An addition to an existing two storey terrace house incorporate a sitting room with a view and direct access to the garden, a bathroom off the sitting room and a lower level study. This design maximises the use of space and its flexibility.

The new design linked the existing formal rooms at the front of the terrace to the new open planed kitchen and sitting rooms. A thick splayed joinery wall which separate the new bathroom and the new sitting room acts as a horizontal and vertical spatial device. The horizontal motion connecting the house to the garden has apertures cut out within the wall, framing and borrowing the view of neighbouring landscapes. This joinery wall also provided a separation from the steps to the garden and the doorway to the lower level study.
